Why Does the Infinite Need Experience?
Understanding Ego, Individuality, and the Purpose of Existence
In the previous discussion, we explored the idea that everything in existence may arise from a single infinite energy—something that is neither created nor destroyed, but always present.
But this leads to a deeper and more uncomfortable question:
If everything is that infinite energy, then what makes us different from it?
If that energy is eternal and limitless, and if we are made from it, then why do we feel limited?
Why do we experience boundaries, individuality, and separation?
And most importantly—
why does existence take this form at all?
The Problem of Non-Duality
If reality is truly non-dual—meaning nothing exists outside that one infinite energy—then there is no “other.”
And without an “other,” there is:
- no comparison
- no observation
- no experience
There is only pure existence.
But existence without experience is silent. It simply is.
So the question becomes:
How does the infinite become aware of itself?
The Role of Creation
For experience to happen, there must be:
- separation
- perspective
- limitation
Without limitation, everything merges into one—where nothing can be distinguished.
So perhaps creation is not random.
Perhaps the universe exists because the infinite expresses itself in limited forms, so that it can be experienced.
Not by something else—but through itself.
Why Individuality Exists
If only one being existed, there would still be no experience—only existence.
Experience requires diversity.
That is why we see:
- different people
- different thoughts
- different emotions
- different identities
Each individual becomes a unique lens through which the infinite observes itself.
No two individuals are the same—not because of randomness, but because difference is essential for experience.
Understanding the Ego
We are often taught that ego is a problem. Something to remove, control, or destroy.
But what if ego is not the enemy?
What if ego is simply a boundary—a necessary limitation that allows experience to happen?
Ego creates the sense of:
- “I am this”
- “You are that”
Without ego, there would be no distinction.
Without distinction, there would be no experience.
So ego is not separate from the infinite.
It is the infinite—appearing in a limited form.
So Who Are You?
You are not separate from that infinite energy.
But you are also not the whole of it.
You are a limited expression of the limitless.
This is why both of these statements can be true at the same time:
- God is within you
- God is greater than you
There is no contradiction—only perspective.
The Real Question
The problem is not whether God exists outside or inside you.
The real question is:
Do you understand the nature of your own “I”?
Because the one who:
- questions
- observes
- experiences
is itself a part of that same infinite reality.
A Thought to Leave With
Maybe existence is not about reaching something.
Maybe it is about experiencing what already is.
And maybe the infinite does not “need” experience in a human sense.
But through you—
it happens.
And that makes your existence not small,
but deeply meaningful.
